Wall Street will be closed on Friday as US financial markets observe the Independence Day public holiday.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq will suspend trading for the day as the Independence Day holiday, which falls on Saturday, July 4 this year, is officially observed on Friday, July 3.
Trading will resume on Monday, July 6, with investors turning their attention to fresh economic data, the Federal Reserve’s interest rate outlook and the start of the corporate earnings season.
The market closure follows Thursday’s trading session, during which investors assessed softer-than-expected US jobs data that reduced expectations of a near-term Federal Reserve interest rate hike. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a record high, while the S&P 500 ended little changed and the Nasdaq Composite finished lower.
