Allianz, Dutch Lady Lead Decliners As Sentiment Weakens

Selling pressure continued to dominate Bursa Malaysia on July 7, with market breadth turning negative as losses in selected heavyweight counters outweighed gains across the broader market.

At the closing bell, losers outpaced gainers 577 to 410, while 573 counters were unchanged, 1,091 remained untraded and 12 were suspended, reflecting cautious investor sentiment.

Insurance counter Allianz Malaysia Bhd emerged as the biggest decliner, falling 50 sen to RM20.60, followed by Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, which shed 40 sen to RM32.

Technology counters also faced pressure, with ViTrox Corporation Bhd declining 15 sen to RM7.48, while PPB Group Bhd slipped 14 sen to RM9.36. ITMAX System Bhd rounded off the top losers list, easing 12 sen to RM4.76.

On the upside, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd was the standout performer among gainers, rising 56 sen to RM29.66. Other notable gainers included Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, which advanced 32 sen to RM21.50, and Petronas Gas Bhd, which climbed 30 sen to RM17.80. United Plantations Bhd added 24 sen to RM33.74, while Hong Leong Bank Bhd gained 16 sen to RM21.96, providing some support against the broader market weakness.

Turnover edged up to 2.69 billion units valued at RM2.06 billion from 2.68 billion units valued at RM1.69 billion on July 6.
