Digitalisation Reduced Patient Wait Time To 60 Minutes At Govt Clinics, MOH

The Health Ministry’s digitalisation drive has cut patient waiting times at government health clinics, with 81% of patients now seeing a medical officer within 60 minutes through the Cloud-Based Clinical Management System (CCMS).

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said the rollout of CCMS at health clinics, the Dental Information System (DIS) at dental clinics and the District Hospital Information System (DHIS) at hospitals has significantly improved service delivery while easing congestion and long waiting times at public healthcare facilities.

She said prior to CCMS implementation, patients at some health clinics waited up to three hours to see a medical officer, depending on patient volume and clinic workload.

“Latest monitoring data shows that 81% of patients are now able to see a medical officer within 60 minutes, while the remaining 19% receive treatment within 60 to 90 minutes depending on the severity of cases and clinic workload,” she said during Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat.

She said the ministry aims to roll out CCMS to 2,917 health clinics and DIS to 728 government dental clinics by 2028 as part of its ongoing healthcare digitalisation agenda.

On MySejahtera, Hanifah said the app currently allows users to book appointments for 18 types of healthcare services at government health and dental clinics, with 29 million appointment transactions recorded to date.

She added that the appointment booking feature will soon be expanded to hospital specialist clinics.

The ministry is also integrating CCMS with MySejahtera, which now stores the health records of about 30 million individuals, including vaccination records, 12 million prescription records, five million dental records, five million health screening records and one million clinic visit summaries to improve access to patient records, speed up treatment and enhance continuity of care across healthcare facilities.

Additionally, Hanifah said 174 health clinics and 11 dental clinics in Sarawak are already using the digital systems.

She added that DHIS has been implemented at one hospital in the state and is targeted to be expanded to 151 hospitals nationwide by 2030.
