A key road near Dataran Merdeka will be temporarily closed for 15 days this month to facilitate preparations and the staging of the Program Uniti Merdeka Kuala Lumpur and Citrawarna 2026 celebrations.
Jalan Raja will be closed from Monday until July 27, covering the preparation period, event implementation and reopening works, according to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
DBKL advised motorists to plan their journeys earlier, follow traffic signages and use alternative routes during the closure period to avoid congestion.
The closure comes ahead of the four-day Unity Merdeka community festival, which will take place from July 17, with more than one million visitors expected to gather at Dataran Merdeka for the large-scale celebration.
The event is part of efforts to promote unity and community participation through cultural activities and public performances in conjunction with national celebrations.
