Bursa Malaysia closed lower on July 15, snapping a three-session winning streak as investors locked in profits, with banking, and oil and gas (O&G) heavyweights dragging the benchmark index into negative territory.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 6.18 points, or 0.36%, to 1,713.76 after trading between 1,712.88 and 1,724.83.
The broader market indices were mixed. The FBM 70 gained 88.76 points, or 0.5%, to 17,885.78, while the FBM Shariah edged up 10.74 points, or 0.09%, to 12,502.78. Meanwhile, the FBM Emas slipped 12.20 points, or 0.1%, to 12,649.73 and the FBM ACE declined 1.41 points, or 0.14%, to 1,026.32.
Trading activity was led by Tanco Holdings Bhd, with 768.33 million shares changing hands, followed by VS Industry Bhd, HHRG Bhd, ACE Market debutant Enest Group BHd and Zetrix AI Bhd.
Turnover improved to 4.07 billion shares worth RM2.84 billion compared to 3.52 billion shares valued at RM2.75 billion in the previous session.
