Collectors and art enthusiasts will have another chance to bid on works by some of the region’s most recognised artists when Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers holds its Malaysian & Southeast Asian Art Auction on August 9 in Kuala Lumpur.
The auction will take place at Hall 1–3, Level M, Menara KEN TTDI, following a week-long public exhibition that runs from August 1 to 8. The preview allows visitors to view the works before they go under the hammer.
Among the top lots is Abdul Latiff Mohidin’s Teluk Kumbar XX from his Voyage Series. The 2007 oil-on-canvas work carries an estimated price of RM350,000 to RM600,000.
Other highlights include Sharifah Fatimah Syed Zubir’s Oscillation (1992), estimated at RM60,000 to RM100,000, and Yeoh Jin Leng’s untitled 1990 oil painting, expected to sell for RM70,000 to RM120,000.
The auction will also feature Chuah Thean Teng’s Abstract, a batik work from the 1980s with an estimate of RM13,000 to RM23,000, and Yusof Ghani’s mixed-media painting Siri Tari (1990), estimated at RM10,000 to RM18,000.
The auction begins at 1 pm on August 9, while the exhibition will be open daily from 10 am to 6 pm between August 1 and 7, and 10 am to 4 pm on August 8.
