There are few places in Kuala Lumpur where you can celebrate Merdeka with the city’s most recognisable landmark right in front of you. At Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the PETRONAS Twin Towers provide the backdrop to a Merdeka celebration that brings together Malaysian flavours, rooftop views and a little late-night revelry.
Located in the heart of KLCC, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur has 571 newly refurbished rooms and suites, with views overlooking either the Twin Towers or the wider city skyline. The hotel is also directly connected to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and linked to Suria KLCC and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, making it a convenient base for those looking to explore the city during the Merdeka period.
But for those who want to spend the night celebrating, the action is happening at the hotel’s dining venues.

Countdown To Merdeka At SkyBar
Perched on Level 33, SkyBar is arguably the place to be for those who want their Merdeka countdown with a view.
On Aug 30, the rooftop venue will host its Merdeka @ SkyBar Countdown from 7pm to 2am, complete with a live band and DJ. Guests can settle into sofa or cabana seating while looking out towards the illuminated Twin Towers.
The packages start at RM888 nett for cabana seating for three, while sofa seating with a Twin Towers view carries a RM1,088 nett minimum spend for four people. For those dropping by individually, the cover charge is RM138 nett per person, inclusive of one alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink.
The minimum spend can also be fully redeemed as dining credit from the SkyBar menu.
For a more food-focused celebration, SkyBar’s Flavours of Merdeka menu runs from Aug 11 to Sept 16. The menu puts a local spin on familiar favourites with dishes including Satay Tiga Rasa, Warisan Laut Malaysia, a Wagyu Rendang Burger and Ayam Percik Skewers.
There is also the Spirits of Kuala Lumpur cocktail collection, inspired by the city’s cultural and historical icons, offering another way to toast Merdeka while taking in the KL skyline.

A Malaysian Twist At Bara On Six
Over at Bara On Six, the hotel’s steakhouse and gin bar is taking a more indulgent approach to Merdeka.
The Flavours of Merdeka menu, available on Aug 30 from 6pm to 10pm, combines premium cuts and Malaysian flavours with dishes such as Sirloin Steak with Rendang Reduction, Ayam Bakar Serai and Grilled Seabass Percik.
Guests can also tuck into an endless semi-buffet spread featuring seafood on ice.
The menu is priced at RM278 nett per person and offers a more relaxed alternative for those who would rather sit down for dinner before heading out to catch the Merdeka celebrations.
Beyond the food and drinks, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur also offers a 24-hour Health Club, theSPA, sauna and steam bath and a rooftop swimming pool for guests looking to slow down after exploring the city.
And if Suria KLCC is on the itinerary, the hotel provides complimentary buggy shuttle services to and from the mall.
For a Merdeka celebration that combines Malaysian flavours with one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic views, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur offers plenty of reasons to stay close to the city centre this August.
