CIMB Indonesia Posts IDR3.19 Trillion Net Profit In 2Q Despite Higher Provisions

CIMB Group Indonesian unit, PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk reported steady financial performance for the first half of 2026 (1H26), with consolidated loans rising 6.6% year-on-year (y-o-y) to IDR247.2 trillion and current account and savings account (CASA) balances growing 6.9% to IDR193.1 trillion.

The Indonesian lender recorded consolidated profit before tax (PBT) of IDR4.3 trillion for the period, equivalent to earnings per share of IDR136.67.

Revenue increased 6.8% y-o-y, while pre-provision operating profit rose 6.5%, supported by a stronger contribution from non-interest income which helped offset lower net interest income.

Asset quality remained sound, with the bank’s gross non-performing loan (NPL) ratio improving to 1.83%. CIMB Niaga said it also strengthened provisions for multifinance companies during the period in line with applicable regulatory requirements.

However, the bank reported net income attributable to owners of IDR3.19 trillion for the second quarter of 2026 (2Q26), down 4.9% from IDR3.36 trillion in the corresponding quarter last year.

Net interest income was broadly stable at IDR5.90 trillion in 2Q26, compared with IDR5.91 trillion a year earlier. Interest income declined to IDR10.73 trillion from IDR11.40 trillion, while interest expenses also fell to IDR4.83 trillion from IDR5.50 trillion.

Operating income stood at IDR4.02 trillion, compared with IDR4.20 trillion in 2Q25.

The bank’s pre-tax income declined 3.9% year-on-year to IDR4.05 trillion from IDR4.21 trillion, while net income for the period stood at IDR3.19 trillion, against IDR3.36 trillion previously.

President Director and CEO Lani Darmawan said the results reflected the resilience of the bank’s underlying business, supported by continued loan and CASA growth as well as disciplined execution.

“We are pleased to report that CIMB Niaga delivered steady performance in the first half of 2026, supported by continued growth in loans and CASA, as well as disciplined execution,” she said.
