YSL Beauty Takes Libre In A Woody Direction

Yves Saint Laurent Beauty is adding a new fragrance to its Libre collection, with Dua Lipa returning as the face of the campaign.

Libre Santal Couture is a limited-edition Eau de Parfum and the first woody floral fragrance in the Libre range. Sandalwood is the main note, paired with French lavender and Moroccan orange blossom.

The sandalwood is sourced from New Caledonia. YSL Beauty says it uses a specific extraction process to focus on the wood’s key scent characteristics and sources it through sustainable practices.

The fragrance gives the Libre line a warmer, wood-focused profile while keeping its existing floral elements.

The bottle also gets a new look. Libre Santal Couture comes in a glossy brown finish inspired by the Yves Saint Laurent fashion archive. It keeps the collection’s gold Cassandre logo and asymmetric shape.

Dua Lipa features in the new campaign wearing a brown leather jacket against a desert landscape, with the Libre name appearing in large flaming letters. The campaign continues her relationship with the fragrance line, having fronted Libre campaigns since 2019.

Libre Santal Couture is available in a single 50ml size. It joins several existing versions of Libre, including the original Eau de Parfum, Libre Intense, Libre Flowers & Flames, Libre L’Eau Nue and Libre Vanille Couture.

With its sandalwood focus and darker packaging, the new release takes the collection in a more woody direction while keeping lavender and orange blossom at the centre of its floral profile.
