The proposed Droneport-1000 is set to give Sabak Bernam a strategic edge in Malaysia’s emerging low-altitude economy by providing a dedicated platform for drone testing, research, talent development and commercialisation, while opening new applications across agriculture, logistics, public services and environmental conservation.
Launched by Selangor Aviation Technology and Innovation (SELATI) in collaboration with Universiti Selangor, the initiative is designed as a test and evaluation facility for unmanned aircraft systems, Advanced Air Mobility and next-generation drone technologies.
Droneport-1000 is expected to complement Sabak Bernam’s strengths in agriculture, fisheries, tourism and environmental stewardship, with potential applications ranging from precision agriculture and crop monitoring to logistics, infrastructure inspection, emergency response and biodiversity conservation.
The initiative forms part of the wider Sabak Bernam Development Area (SABDA) and is expected to help improve productivity, strengthen public services and create new business and employment opportunities for local communities.
SELATI Chief Executive Officer and SABDA Economic Development Zone Head Zannifa Azura Ahmad said the project could become a “game changer” for the district by linking technology and investment with food security, conservation and community prosperity.
Together with SABDA, Droneport-1000 is also aimed at attracting investment, strengthening food security and supporting sustainable regional development in northern Selangor.
