West River Secures SEDA Approval For Two Perak Hydropower Projects

West River Bhd has secured Feed-in Approval from the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA) for two small hydropower projects in Perak, marking another step in the group’s expansion into renewable energy.

The approvals were awarded to its wholly-owned subsidiary, Neutron Power Sdn Bhd, under the 2026 Feed-in Tariff (FiT) system. The projects are located within Hutan Rizab Bukit Kinta in Ulu Kinta and Hutan Rizab Bukit Tapah in Batang Padang.

The Feed-in Approval covers the installed capacity, net export capacity and applicable FiT rates for both projects, with their scheduled FiT commencement date set for Aug 17, 2031.

West River said the projects support its strategy of building a more diversified and sustainable earnings base through renewable energy, with hydropower identified as a long-term growth area.

The group will continue progressing the developments in line with regulatory requirements and project timelines.
