Seven areas in four states recorded unhealthy air quality as of 9 am today, with four of the affected areas in Sarawak, according to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
Serian IPD recorded the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 194, just below the very unhealthy threshold, followed by Kuching at 183, Sri Aman at 177 and Samarahan at 175.
Outside Sarawak, Johan Setia in Selangor recorded an API reading of 157. At the same time, Sungai Petani in Kedah and Taiping in Perak registered 140 and 121 respectively.
Meanwhile, 61 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality as of 9 am.
The Department of Environment (DOE) continues to monitor ambient air quality through 68 stations nationwide, with API readings updated hourly to detect significant changes that could affect public health and the environment.
