Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) led Bursa Malaysia’s gainers, while Nestle (M) Bhd topped the decliners as the broader market ended on an almost even footing.
Market breadth remained marginally positive, with 551 gainers against 531 decliners. Another 591 counters were unchanged, 1,136 untraded and 15 suspended.
MPI was the day’s biggest gainer, jumping RM1.14 to RM40.96, with 342,500 shares changing hands.
Petronas Dagangan Bhd followed, gaining 38 sen to RM20.30 on 580,800 shares.
Telekom Malaysia Bhd climbed 29 sen to RM8.18, with a heavier 14.29 million shares traded, while UWC Bhd advanced 26 sen to RM6.78 on 4.48 million shares.
Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd rounded out the top five gainers, adding 22 sen to RM22.90, with 518,000 shares traded.
On the losing end, Nestle fell RM1.16 to RM93, with 80,100 shares traded. Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd dropped 44 sen to RM24.10, while United Plantations Bhd declined 30 sen to RM33 on 1.42 million shares.
Hong Leong Industries Bhd slipped 16 sen to RM16.90, with 129,400 shares changing hands, while Tenaga Nasional Bhd also lost 16 sen to RM13.74 on volume of 4.32 million shares.
Overall trading volume eased to 3.66 billion units from 4.13 billion units on Sept 8, although transaction value increased to RM3.49 billion from RM3.14 billion.
