Petronas and Greece-based METLEN have signed a five-year sale and purchase agreement for the long-term supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Greece, strengthening energy supply diversification in Southeast Europe.
Under the agreement, Petronas subsidiary PETCO Trading (UK) Ltd will supply METLEN with six LNG cargoes a year, equivalent to about 0.6 billion cubic metres annually, beginning in 2027.
The LNG will be sourced from Petronas’ Atlantic portfolio, supporting METLEN’s strategy to diversify supply sources and improve flexibility and procurement resilience.
The agreement is also expected to support energy security in Greece and the wider Southeast European market while reinforcing Greece’s role as a regional energy hub.
METLEN Chief Executive Director International Energy Supply & Trading Panayotis Kanellopoulos said the deal strengthens the group’s LNG sourcing strategy and improves supply reliability through deeper international partnerships.
Petronas Executive Vice President and CEO of Gas & Maritime Business Datuk Adif Zulkifli said the agreement reflects Petronas’ focus on providing reliable and flexible LNG solutions while expanding its presence across Europe and the Mediterranean.
The deal also deepens the relationship between Petronas and METLEN and is expected to open further opportunities for collaboration.
