Gas Malaysia Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding with Air Liquide Engineering & Construction to explore low-carbon hydrogen, CO2 off-take and Bio-LNG projects aimed at supporting Malaysia’s energy transition and industrial decarbonisation.
Signed on the sidelines of Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, the agreement will combine Gas Malaysia’s market reach and gas infrastructure network with Air Liquide’s industrial gas technologies and engineering expertise to assess potential lower-carbon energy solutions for customers.
The collaboration will focus on renewable gas initiatives, including Bio-LNG projects, as well as CO2 off-take opportunities involving Gas Malaysia and third-party facilities.
Both companies will also explore the use of Air Liquide’s technology for low-carbon hydrogen solutions and assess broader engineering and technology opportunities that could support industrial decarbonisation.
Gas Malaysia President and Group Chief Executive Officer Azli Mohamed said the partnership reflects the need for practical decarbonisation solutions that can support the energy transition without compromising supply reliability.
“As Malaysia’s energy landscape evolves, the industry needs practical solutions that support decarbonisation while maintaining supply system reliability,” he said.
Azli added that the initiative would allow Gas Malaysia to expand beyond conventional gas supply through partnerships in renewable gas, hydrogen and other lower-carbon industrial solutions.
The collaboration is aligned with Gas Malaysia’s GM32 strategy and builds on the group’s existing decarbonisation initiatives.
It also supports the objectives of Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap, particularly in advancing lower-carbon energy alternatives and supporting industrial decarbonisation.
