Bursa Eked Out 0.03% Gain As Bargain Hunting Cushioned Recent Sell-Off

Bursa Malaysia closed marginally higher on Oct 2, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gaining 0.51 point, or 0.03 per cent, to 1,630.87 as bargain hunting emerged after the recent sharp sell-off.

The benchmark index traded between 1,630.63 and 1,640.78 during the session, but the rebound remained muted as regional markets stayed under pressure ahead of key US labour market data.

Broader indices ended firmer. The FBM 70 rose 122.95 points, or 0.71%, to 17,481.93, while the FBM Emas added 27.04 points, or 0.22%, to 12,170.57.

The FBM Shariah climbed 47.31 points, or 0.39%, to 12,060.32, while the F4GBM gained 2.33 points, or 0.24%, to 986.67.

Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded counter, falling five sen to 11.5 sen, with close to 105.54 million shares changing hand.

Jaks Resources Bhd was unchanged at 18 sen, while JCY International Bhd jumped 10.5 sen to 66 sen. VS Industry Bhd rose two sen to 29 sen, while PUC Bhd added one sen to 4.5 sen.

Overall turnover rose to 4.23 billion shares worth RM2.7 billion compared to 3.1 billion shares valued at RM2.7 billion on Oct 1.
