Budget 2027: Businesses Seeking Halal Certification For First Time To Get RM5,000 Matching Grant

Businesses seeking halal certification for the first time will be eligible for a matching grant of up to RM5,000 under Budget 2027, as the government seeks to encourage more local companies to enter Malaysia’s halal ecosystem.

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the measure while tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

The assistance is expected to help businesses offset part of the initial costs associated with obtaining halal certification and meeting the necessary compliance requirements, particularly for smaller companies looking to expand their customer base or enter the halal supply chain.

The initiative builds on the government’s broader efforts to increase participation in the halal economy. Just ahead of Budget 2027, the government said it was considering additional funding and tax incentives to encourage greater participation in the halal industry, including among Bumiputera businesses.

Further details, including the matching ratio, qualifying expenditure, eligibility criteria, application process and agency responsible for administering the grant, are expected to be provided following the Budget announcement.
