Budget 2027: RM7.1 Billion For Security Assets, 48 New Scanners At Major Airports

The government has allocated RM7.1 billion to purchase and maintain assets for the armed forces, police and uniformed agencies under the Home Ministry as part of Budget 2027.

The Home Ministry and Defence Ministry each receive RM22 billion.

Several new facilities will also be built, including the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency’s state headquarters in Tanjung Kupang, Johor, the 19th General Operations Force Battalion Complex in Cheras and an Immigration Office in Keningau, Sabah.

Three new police stations will be built in Sungai Rambai, Melaka; Tanjung Malim, Perak; and Batu Lintang, Sri Aman, Sarawak.

Separately, the Border Control and Protection Agency will receive RM490 million to strengthen national border security.

Airport security screening will be tightened, including mandatory drug and alcohol tests for pilots and flight crew. A total of 48 new body and baggage scanners will be installed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Penang International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
