AstraZeneca Claims Vaccine Booster Shot Effective Against Omicron

AstraZeneca claims its vaccine booster shot is effective against the Omicron variant of Covid-19, the pharmaceutical said this based on data from an Oxford University lab study.

The news which was published in Reuters, noted that the study is yet to be published for peer to reviewed medical journal showed the antibody levels against Omicron were higher after the booster shot was higher than antibodies in people who had been infected with those who had recovered naturally from the virus.

It also showed that after the three-dose course of the vaccine, the neutralising levels against Omicron were similar to those against the virus Delta variant after two doses.

The pharmaceutical giant stated that the researchers at Oxford University who worked on the study were independent from those who worked on the vaccines.
