Bermaz Auto Berhad has announced that its subsidiary, Bermaz Changan Sdn Bhd, has mutually terminated its distribution agreement with Mobitech Co. Ltd., China, for the Deepal electric vehicle (EV) brand in Malaysia.
BAuto said BCSB, which is 85%-owned by the group, entered into a termination agreement with Mobitech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. Ltd., China, on 26 June 2026.
The agreement involved the termination of BCSB’s distributorship rights for the Deepal brand, including the distribution of EVs, sale of spare parts, and provision of after-sales services in Malaysia.
BCSB was appointed as the Deepal distributor in Malaysia in November 2024. Following the appointment, the company had been in discussions with Changan Automobile on various matters, including EV models to be introduced and retail pricing strategies amid the increasingly competitive Malaysian EV market.
However, after negotiations, both parties decided not to proceed with the distributorship and agreed to end the arrangement with immediate effect.
