Over 1 Million Litre Of Subsidised Diesel Transacted Using MyKad On First Day

More than one million litres of subsidised diesel were purchased using MyKad on the first day of the BUDI MADANI Diesel (BUDI Diesel) early access rollout, marking a smooth start to the new targeted subsidy system.

The Ministry of Finance said nearly 24,000 transactions were recorded on 27 June 2026, with a total value of RM2.1 million at a subsidised price of RM2.15 per litre. The system operated without any major disruptions, and petrol station operators, fuel companies, or eligible users reported no significant issues.

The MyKad verification mechanism at petrol stations functioned as intended throughout the day, supporting the controlled distribution of subsidised diesel to eligible private vehicle owners in Peninsular Malaysia.

The ministry thanked consumers, fuel retailers, oil companies and implementing agencies for their cooperation in ensuring a stable and orderly rollout during the early access phase.

The early rollout serves as a preparatory stage ahead of the full nationwide implementation of BUDI Diesel on July 1, 2026. From that date, eligible Malaysian citizens will be able to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre nationwide through MyKad verification at participating stations.

Under the new subsidy framework, the government said the reform is aimed at ensuring sufficient supply for targeted groups while reducing leakages and improving overall efficiency. It also takes into account differing diesel usage patterns based on vehicle type, location and operational needs.

Private diesel vehicle owners are entitled to a basic quota of 200 litres per month under BUDI Diesel. As most eligible vehicles are pick-up trucks and jeeps used for daily travel, work and rural mobility, owners may apply for an additional 100 litres per month, bringing the total eligibility to 300 litres.

As of 11 am on June 28, 2026, more than 13,000 applications had been submitted through the official BUDI MADANI portal for the additional allocation.

Commercial diesel users, including public transport operators, logistics providers and other eligible businesses, continue to receive subsidies through the Controlled Diesel Subsidy System under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, based on operational categories and requirements. The ministry is also coordinating implementation for company-owned private diesel vehicles in line with Cabinet decisions made on 26 June 2026.

The federal government is also working with state authorities and relevant agencies to finalise data on other diesel-dependent groups, particularly in rural, interior and riverine areas, to ensure eligible recipients are not excluded from the subsidy system.

Authorities said they will continue monitoring the rollout and make improvements based on feedback from the public and industry stakeholders. Eligibility checks, applications for additional quota, and further information are available via the BUDI MADANI portal, while applications under the Controlled Diesel Subsidy System can be submitted through the MySubsidi portal.
