Tackling The Need For Capable Internal Auditors

The Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIA Malaysia) and BAC Education Group aim to work in developing a larger pool of globally qualified internal audit professionals equipped to meet the increasing governance, risk management and compliance demands of businesses.

Among the key initiatives is the introduction of dedicated Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) tutorial programmes, designed to help students and working professionals obtain the globally recognised internal audit credential.

The collaboration will also establish postgraduate pathways through Master of Business Administration (MBA) programmes specialising in internal audit, with CIA Parts 1, 2 and 3 incorporated as elective components.

In addition, the partnership it added will deliver continuous professional development (CPD) programmes focused on emerging risk areas, alongside joint seminars, workshops and career engagement activities to enhance industry readiness.

IIA Malaysia President Suhailah Mohamed Abdulla said the collaboration would help produce professionals who are not only technically competent but also capable of serving as strategic advisors within organisations.

She said Malaysia’s growing economy requires internal auditors who contribute beyond compliance functions and play a role in creating, protecting and sustaining corporate value.

“This initiative expands our efforts to increase the number of Certified Internal Auditors in Malaysia while strengthening the profession’s role in supporting sound governance,” she said.

The initiative reflects growing industry efforts to address talent shortages in specialised fields while supporting Malaysia’s broader ambition to build a highly skilled workforce capable of sustaining long-term economic growth.
