Gainers Outpace Losers As Nestlé, MPI Lead Bursa’s Top Performers

The stock market movement ended on a firmer footing on July 15, with gainers comfortably outnumbering losers as buying interest in selected consumer, technology and industrial stocks offset weakness in several heavyweight counters.

At the close, gainers led losers 590 to 475, while 604 counters were unchanged, 1,034 were untraded and 11 suspended.

Nestlé (M) Bhd emerged as the day’s top gainer, climbing RM1.50 to RM92, followed by Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, which advanced RM1.34 to RM45.74. Kluang Rubber Co (M) Bhd, UMS Integration Ltd and Pentamaster Corporation Bhd also finished among the market’s biggest gainers.

On the losing side, Batu Kawan Bhd fell 38 sen to RM21.32, while LPI Capital Bhd also shed 38 sen to RM15.00. Petronas Gas Bhd, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd rounded out the top decliners.

Trading activity strengthened, with total market turnover rising to 4.07 billion shares worth RM2.84 billion compared to 3.52 billion shares valued at RM2.75 billion in the previous session.
