Malaysia’s cruise tourism sector is set to receive a boost after StarCruises and Golden Destinations Group Berhad signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to operate five charter sailings from Port Klang during the December 2026 school holiday season.
The agreement, witnessed by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing at CruiseWorld Malaysia 2026, will see the Star Voyager offer two-night and three-night cruises to Phuket and Krabi, Thailand, between Dec 5 and Dec 22.
The charter programme is aimed at meeting growing demand for cruise holidays among Malaysian travellers while further strengthening Port Klang’s position as a regional cruise hub.
The collaboration combines Golden Destinations’ travel distribution network with StarCruises’ cruise operations to expand access to cruise holidays for families, leisure travellers, corporate groups and the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) segment.
Bookings for the Star Voyager charter cruises have opened through Golden Destinations’ nationwide network of travel partners and authorised agents, with demand expected to be strong during the year-end school holiday period.
