Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) emerged as Bursa Malaysia’s biggest decliner, falling 50 sen to RM47, as overall market breadth remained negative with 625 losers outpacing 559 gainers.
MPI topped the losers list on 326,800 shares traded.
Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd followed, dropping 24 sen to RM21.56, while Petronas Gas Bhd declined 20 sen to RM17.22.
Kelington Group Bhd fell 16 sen to RM8.54 on about 1.55 million shares, while AMMB Holdings Bhd slipped 15 sen to RM7.20, with 5.59 million shares traded.
On the upside, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd surged 44 sen to RM14.90, topping the gainers list on 737,500 shares.
UMS Integration Ltd was close behind, climbing 42 sen to RM8.88, while Nestlé (M) Bhd advanced 30 sen to RM103.
Hong Leong Bank Bhd gained 24 sen to RM22.74, while PPB Group Bhd rose 20 sen to RM9.60 on just over one million shares.
While the overall market breadth remained negative, another 548 counters were unchanged, 1,113 untraded and 27 suspended.
Total trading volume eased to 3.45 billion units from 3.5 billion units on Aug 14, although transaction value increased to RM2.74 billion from RM2.59 billion.
