Malaysians Urged To Avoid Travelling To Southern Thailand

Malaysia has issued an urgent travel advisory instructing citizens to avoid non-essential travel to southern Thailand following a wave of coordinated attacks across multiple border provinces.

The warning comes after Thai security forces reported a series of violent incidents—including bomb explosions, car bombings, and arson attacks—striking key public areas across Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani.

According to reports from military authorities in Thailand, the violence erupted late Saturday evening. Coordinated strikes targeted administrative offices, power poles, convenience stores, and commercial fuel stations. In Narathiwat Province alone, at least 11 separate violent incidents were recorded, including a car explosion that resulted in multiple injuries.

In response to the deteriorating security situation, Thailand’s military authorities announced an immediate overnight curfew across Narathiwat Province, restricting civilian movement while joint security forces conduct cordon-and-search operations.

Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat urged members of the public, particularly residents in border districts such as Pasir Mas, Tumpat, and Tanah Merah, to postpone all leisure and non-urgent travel across the border.
